Community Building

In 2018, I had the pleasure of collaborating with Yai Vargas, founder of the Latinista in NYC to expand the organization in Chicago.

With the support of committed members in Chicago, I led the creation of building a supportive safe space to be your authentic self as we applied learnings to upskill at work and build generational wealth. The Latinista is a national network of Latinas and Women of Color invested in career and leadership development through hands-on workshops. Proud to have led efforts to bring this community together for four years in the city of Chicago.

Today, these efforts inspired me, to become a mentor to four first-gen college graduates during 2021 to present. We meet on a monthly basis. Each mentee picks a topic for the month, and I leverage my network to bring a speaker that can help us have an honest and raw conversation about the topic. This model will inform my desire to form a foundation in the near future to mentor first-gen college students.

Argelia is a community builder at heart. She knows how to galvanize people with similar passions and help them achieve their professional goals. She and I have worked together to create a community of Latinas and women of color that are invested in career and leadership development. She is excellent at developing, leading and curating workshops that mobilize communities for the greater good. I appreciate her strategic mindset and admire the purpose she has found in being a devout community leader.
