Día de los Muertos

Deolores, November 2018

This past weekend, I was invited to a private Día de los Muertos brunch hosted by DeColores Restaurant in Pilsen. El Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead is a Mexican tradition where families honor the lives of their loves ones that have passed. I was excited to participate because in my Peruvian culture, the Day of the Dead is not quite as important a celebration as it is in Mexico.

Following Mexican tradition, the restaurant set up a colorful altar. This specific altar showcased photographs of well-known Latino artists that have passed. Everyone was asked to bring in photographs of deceased loved ones and place it on the altar.

As you probably know, I love pretty cocktails and delicious food so spending my Sunday indulging in Mexican cuisine and craft cocktails was a dream! I enjoyed all the great conversation and especially meeting the lovely ladies from the new podcast Cocktails con Conmadres.
